Eye Popping Kitchen Upgrades

My wife will argue that the kitchen is the most important room in a home. She says it’s the main activity point of our family – with the exception of my “man-cave”. Yet, I must admit that having a modern and stylish kitchen can take an enormous amount of time to design, especially since a kitchen upgrade or renovation can help increase the value of your home considerably.

First, think about your needs and priorities for your kitchen before consulting with a designer. The design of your kitchen should encompass the uses & functions of the room. Design should include your lifestyle, how you entertain, how you cook and prepare meals, as well as the type of appliances you will need, what kind of stove and oven, texture etc.. If you want to get more kitchen design ideas then try to read articles, books on kitchen design, architectural style, magazines to know better about cabinets, countertops, flooring, faucets and fixtures, as well as lighting also. You also can visit home centers, showrooms and kitchen design stores.

So when I mentioned to my wife that I was gathering information on designing a modern kitchen, she thought I had finally given in to her constant nagging and was about to blueprint her new dream kitchen.  The next morning, I wake up and the desk in my home office is filled with magazine cut-outs and downloaded pictures of a variety of modern designs – all of which would require another mortgage on my house and quite possibly a dip into the kids college funds. There was even talk of me selling internal organs, but I won’t get into that right now.

Here lies thy problem – the pictures and designs were amazing! And no matter what else I could have come up with, nothing would have matched what was already embedded into memory courtesy of the Mrs.. Then I suddenly realized, I never agreed to upgrading the kitchen. I was only doing mild research to write a blog entry. And now, the blog entry has gone from “Tips on Designing A Modern Kitchen” to “Eye Popping Pictures of Modern Kitchens I Can’t Afford But Will Always Have To Remind Me of the Guilt My Wife Has Burdened Upon Me“.

So rather than throw my fellow husbands into the fires of a new stainless steel appliance, I will share with you the photos of the astonishing kitchens my wife sprung on me and the guilt ridden emotion I live with every time I step into our  current kitchen to ask what’s for dinner. Perhaps these photos can give inspiration to those husbands without the will power to put their foot down and say , “Woman! That’s a GE microwave with a built-in defroster and the largest George Foreman grill they had on sale at Target!”

I’d love to chat more, but I have a 2:00pm appointment at my bank for a home improvement loan. I should bring copies of these pictures with me!
